Aircraft Mechanic - Turbo-Jet/Turbo-Prop

The Research Aviation Facility at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Broomfield, Colorado, seeks an experience mechanic to assume responsibility for routine and non-routine inspection, service and repair of turbo-jet and turbo-prop airframes, engines, and propellers, in accordance with the manufactures’ and federal aviation requirements. Participates in aircraft modifications, fabrication of scientific equipment interface hardware, and instrumentation to meet research requirements.
Repairs and replaces component parts in wings, fuselage, empennage, landing gears, and fuel tanks. Services, repairs, and replaces engine and propeller parts. Inspects, services, and repairs electrical wiring, aircraft accessories and equipment, including pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Performs inspections on aircraft before and after flight and does routine and progressive inspections in accordance with established FAA and manufactures manuals.
Fabricates sheet metal and composite structures per print. Locates sources of materials and supplies for fabrication tasks. Uses tools such as power shear, sheet metal brake, rivet guns, drills, drill presses, and lathes. Designs simple assemblies with little engineering guidance. Assists technicians and researchers in machining, fabrication and installation tasks.
